Grevenbroich, where Weng-Hennen Haus locates, is an important energy city in Germany. Around this city there are four power works operated by RWE Power. To visit the open-pit coal mine with deepest point to 210 meter in ground and big as 70 square kilometers is a rare experience travelling in Germany. Several huge baggers inside of the pit dig coal mines 24 hours without stopping. Every year they dig out 35 million to 40 million tons of coal to provide the four power works to generate energy. The platform beside the pit provides wonderful and astonishing view of the whole pit.
Guests who are interested in the coal mine pit are welcomed to contact with housekeeper. Traffic and guiding costs 10 Eur every person. In summer time, RWE provides free guiding to visit the pit. Reservation is needed.
